It's one of those cases where people just buy into everything they hear. Yes, air pollution is a big problem in China, but it's no different from Los Angeles, Mexico, or any big city for that matter.





There's nothing wrong with caring about their health, in fact several athletes took masks to Beijing, but the error the cyclists made was wearing them at the airport, in front of everybody, because that looked like a political statement. They ended up apologizing, though.
Racist? You're nuts...That city has the worst smog on Earth...I don't blame them a bit for wearing the mask...haven't you noticed pictures of the city even now...it always looks foggy...that's how polluted that city is...and this is after they pulled a bunch of cars off the street and shut down many manufacturing plants....
No its not. They are trying to win gold medals in China. The country has the worst air quality of any on earth. Hell, not wearing breathing masks is probably detrimental to one's health while in China's cities.
The air is worse there than most other places. And people who live in beijing have been seen wearing masks. So they cannot get mad at the cyclist for that, who would want to breath that kinda of air.
It wasn't to be disrespectful..
