Are face masks in the UK about to become a fashion item?

No I don't think the UK will start wearing them like some of the other countries are as we know that they are not going to protect us from swine flu.Are face masks in the UK about to become a fashion item?
Think they might be for a while anyway. The face mask will not protect a person from the flu virus once it becomes wet, which it does very quickly while being breathed through.





The kind of face masks doctors and nurses use in the NHS is disposable.





If anyone is worried about catching the flu virus, fear not, because there is a lot that we can do to protect ourselves.





Remember the WW2 slogan, ';Coughts and sneezes spread diseases';. Carry a couple of handkerchiefs with you at all time or a pocket sized bag of tissues - sneeze into these instead of allowing it to spread freely in the air.





If the flu takes hold and becomes a pandemic, the best advice is to stay at home. Do not go out, especially do not go to crowded places.





In all probability the swine flu will be stopped dead in it's tracks in a few weeks from now. The situation is under strict control here in UK and we have already got over 33million doses of assorted drugs which will help a victim of the pig-flu fight and survive the illness.





The UK.gov are building up supplies of these tabs to about 50million doses or more.

EDIT - UK.gov will be airing TV ads giving advice to the people on how to avoid the spread of disease via sneezing etc. Watch out for these.
