Why N95 masks are called such?

At the same time, water also bends light. You can observe this by filling a glass of water and moving your hand behind the glass.
When a person is under water, both the water and the eye refract light, causing the light to focus in the wrong spot. This is what makes everything blurry while you're underwater.
Now, when you use a dive mask or goggles, you're adding air back into the equation. The light passing through the water still bends, but it also has to pass through the goggles to get to your eye. This additional bit of glass and air bends the light enough that your eye can make sense of it.

i thought it was pretty obvious why, the googles protect your eyes because most people can't keep your eyes open if there's a constant source of water in them. maybe you should go to the special classes, this is common sense

Wash it off and your face will feel baby smooth. The salicyclic acid exfoliates skin, calms the redness of blemishes and speeds up their healing.
I've done this since high school. Also I'll throw 10 aspirin into a hot tub. But I'll rinse the tub out real good so my cat doesn't jump in and get aspirin powder on his feet.
have you heard of **** before? its a nutrient protein base substance that is hugely COSTLY, you know those cucumbers, exfoliates what not, i can supply if need be just hit me up via email, hope ive helped good luck n have fun.

I have very oily skin and i was looking for ways to improve it without having to spend money anymore.Some of the best homemade facial masks for oily skin?
To avoid oily skin, you can use trangerine peels.All you have to do, is to grate them and put a bit of milk. Apply on your face just as if it were a mask. Keep it for half an hour. Wash it away with water. This will give you a splendid bright face.
You can also apply banana mash but i'm not very sure about it.Some of the best homemade facial masks for oily skin?
Here's some masks I found for oily skin that sound pretty good :)
INGREDIENTS
6 oz plain yogurt
2 drops of thyme oil
2 drops of mint oil
Juice from 1 lemon
陆 packet of yeast
2 Tbsp of starch from potatoes (let potatoes sit in water for several hours; use 2 Tbsp of the milky water)
DIRECTIONS
Combine ingredients in food processor. Apply to entire face paying particular attention to pimples and blackheads. Leave the mask on for ten to twenty minutes. Rinse.
Or try this one...
* 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
* 1 egg white
* 1 teaspoon honey
* 1/2 cup of strawberries
Blend all the ingredients above for an easy face mask. Strawberries have great astringent properties and will help cleanse your oily skin without irritation. You will definitely enjoy the smell and feeling of this mask on your face. Ah, and if you are into organic products, all you have to do is buy all these ingredients organic - and you have an organic mask!
Another thing you can do is take two spoonfusl of gram flour and make a paste with yogurt. Yogurt has bleaching agents so it helps clears the complexion. Add a pinch of turmeric powder to it, which helps in reducing the marks caused by acne and pimples. This pack can be used as a scrubber also. Scrub it off from the skin in adverse direction when half dries. It will remove the dead skin also.
I'm sure one or all of those will work! :) hehe!

days. Powder finely and store. Wash your face with this 2-3

beleive me I have a very easy and soooo simple garanteed and experienced method that works magically for me..
All what you have to do is combinig equal amounts of Olive-Oil with pure Lemone juice, then after shaking them apply them to your face by your fingers in a circular rubbing way (but without squeezing or being tough while appliance, and ofcourse indoors away from sunlight), then leave the combination on your face for an hour or till you feel that your skin drank the whole combination and not wet any more, after that wash your face with pure cold water without anything but water, then apply cucumber peel on youf face for 20 minutes after that remove the peels then with a piece of cotton which is wetted by ROSE-WATER.. then re-wash you face with only cold water...
You will find your face been peeled and whitened by the first combination, the cucumber peels will tighten you your skin and make it to be shrunk, the rose water will help reducing the wrinkles too as the peels do, and ofcourse rosewater will tighten the pores of the skin the thing will reduce recollecting dirt again..
BELEIVE me, whatever your age is, however your face is exhausted, you will magically will look younger by at least two years depending on the type of your skin..

Swine flu does worry me, but as there are still no vaccines available there isn't much we can do about it. We shouldn't have to stay home because we are pregnant, people with swine flu should stay home so they don't infect anyone else... I think it's fine to keep going on as normal, but be aware of the people around you. I was due on Wednesday and cant wait to have bubs to ease my mind a bit.Aussie pregnant women to wear masks?

Unless you put it on in a sterile environment and then not move it at all until you're back in a sterile environment (that would include re-adjusting it's position while you're outside, moving it aside to take a drink etc) then germs can easily get under the mask.
The only thing you really achieve is looking like a complete tool. If you're that paranoid, stay home, but don't let scaremongering ruin your day. Most people who get H1N1 have a mild case that is no worse than any other flu strain - not to mention that H1N1 actually has a lower fatality rate than most seasonal flu's. Be sensible, but don't let fear run your life.
What surprises me is that they are actually doing something for a risk group, with the numbers as they are now, compared to some countries which shall remain nameless and have worse numbers, where they simply don't seem to know what to do and the only thing they seem to be doing well at, is panicking and doing the same to their population.
Australia deserves a medal for that.

im not going to wear a mask, but i will be very careful about who im around... ill be washing my hands very regularly.. and if someone looks sick or is coughing / sneezing, im staying far far away
im pretty healthy, i take vitamins and eat well and i feel pretty energetic considering im 36 weeks tomorrow.. but this thing is only going to get worse and worse.. how can we never leave home??
when my baby is born im not going to take her to the shops or anything like that until she has had all her needles, and ill be extra careful with making sure ppl wash their hands before touching her etc...
and if friends or fam are sick ill just tell them to visit another time.. its going to be hard to not look like a germ freak, but there really isn't much choice at the moment

I was watching the news last night about this. I'm 26 weeks, and heading into third trimester. I'll still be going out of the house, I have to! Shopping and other things need to be done, but I don't think i'll be wearing a mask. I've had the flu already and only had it for 5-6 days, that's amazing considering a pregnant ladies immune system is alot weaker! My fiance and my mother had flu's but I made sure I boiled everything. Get plenty of Vitamin C too, drink water and keep the pregnancy vitamins up!
All over the world they are advising pregnant women to be extra careful because H1N1 seems to be much more serious if you are pregnant. A mask is not completely necessary but you do need to avoid crowded places and wash your hands often.
What will you do if you are pregnant?

Ladies, I REALLY do need your help. For those of you who have or have experienced oily skin, please share your experiences with me. My skin is not very ';obedient.'; When I apply my make-up, it would stay fine and smooth longer at night than it would during the day. I've recently started to use CoverGirl Oil Control Liquid Foundation (it doesn't have the greatest coverage though) and CoverGirl Stay Fresh Translucent Powder that comes in a silver compact. I've tried some other things but they haven't worked as well as this. I really hope I helped :)
I have the same problem and it sucks!! I just started using Maybelline Pure foundation. It is in a little blue squeeze tube, it is 50% water, it works well! My face still gets a little oily but not nearly as bad! I also use Avon Minerals makeup, sometime I use both but most of the time I just use to Avon makeup at night. I also sale Avon so I have a lot of it. lol

one tblespoon of kosher salt (for an abrasive)
juge all together in the food processor, and apply to face, Girl you will be sooooooooo happy, don't do this but once a week, because the salt will be too much of an abrasive for the face.

um, this is a good scrub, for the hands and the lips.
mix a spoonful of butter, some oats, vanilla, and ground coffee in a bowl. scrub on your hands or lips and then wash off.
Voila- the starbucks scrub
Scrub Grains for All Skin Types
戮 cup Ground Oats (old fashioned rolled oats)
录 cup Walnut Shell Flour
陆 cup Ground Sweet Almond Meal or Apricot Meal
1 cup Kaolin Clay
2 teaspoons of essential oil (see clay mask for appropriate essential oil)
Clay Mask for Oily/Combination Skin
陆 cup Ground Oats
录 cup Walnut Shell Flour
陆 cup Ground Sweet Almond Meal or Apricot Meal
2 cups Zeolite, Sea Green or Rhassoul Clay (micronized)
陆 teaspoon Cypress %26amp; 陆 teaspoon juniper berries essential oils for oily skin OR
1 teaspoon Rosemary essential oil for combination skin
Lip Balm Butter Recipe
This recipe is similar to Burt鈥檚 Bees Lip Balm. It has plenty of beeswax and shea butter in it. It seems to lend itself to minty essential oils as well as our lavender/lime essential oil blend.
Ingredients:
1 ounces beeswax beads
1 ounces shea butter
3/4 ounce borage seed oil(
you can use a less expensive oil such as sweet almond oil. Borage seed oil is the most moisturizing oil that we carry.)
1 teaspoon colored jojoba beads (optional)
Essential Oils 鈥?see below
Utensils needed: 8 ounce glass measuring cup, teaspoon measuring spoon, stainless spoon or wooden coffee stirrer and lip balm jars or lip balm tubes.
Put the beeswax beads, shea butter and jojoba beads in glass cup and melt in microwave. Be sure to microwave at 50% and 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time. When melted add oil. Microwave a little more if oil congeals mixture. It is important when working with a shea butter product not to get it above 160 degrees or it gets gritty Stir and add borage seed oil. When the mixture has cooled a little, add essential oil(s) and pour into containers. When cool, label your products.
Minty suggestions:
陆 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
or
陆 teaspoon spearmint essential oil
or
陆 teaspoon peppermint and 录 teaspoon wintergreen essential oils
Lavender/Lime 鈥?add 1 to 2 teaspoons essential oil blend 鈥?equal parts
For a softer lip balm, add another 陆 ounce of borage seed oil and/or omit jojoba beads.
Our natural lip balm tubes with the teal caps look really nice with lagoon green jojoba beads for a minty lip balm. You can see the lip balm color thru the tube.
if you want to make soap, go to michales, they have everthing you need; moldings etc.
here are some recipes i found in one of my books:
oatmeal mask
need: 1tbsp runny honney, 1 egg yolk, up to 4 tbsp fine oatmeal
directions: mix the honey and egg yolk together in a bowl,then slowly stir in enough oatmeal, making a soft paste. smooth onto face, and relax for 15 minutes. rise with lukewarm water and pat skin dry.
gentle face srcub
need: 3tbsp ground almonds, 3 tbsp medium oatmeal, 3tbsp powdered milk, 2 tbsp powdered rose petals, almomnd oil, mixing bowl, spoon, lidded glass jar
directions:combine all ingreditents in bowl (except almond oil). store in a lidded glass jar. take a handful each time you use it , put it in a mixing bowl and pour a little bit almond oil. when ready to take it off, rinse splashes of warm water. this will make 10 treatments.
night cream:
need: 2 oz jar of unperfumed base cream w/ a lid, 3 drops of rose essential oil, 2 drops of frankicense essetial oil, 1 drop of jasmine essential oil
directions: add the oils to the cream %26amp; mix well together. apply to skin before bedtime
geranium body lotion
need: 6 fluid ounces of unsented body lotion, 15 drops geranium essential oil
directions:
mix oil and lotion throughly, then pour into a bottle with a lid
citrus body scrub
need: 3tbsp freshly ground sunflower seeds, 3tbsp medium oatmeal, 3 tbsp flaked sea salt, 3tbsp finely grated orange peel, 3 drops grapefruit essential oil, almond oil
directions: mix all ingreedients except almond oil then store in a lidded jar. each time you use it apply a little almond oil to make a thick paste, wet skin, then rub onto skin.
You can make a really nice lipgloss by taking a nice lipstick.. Cutting a chunk of it off
and mixing it with vaseline :)

mix a spoonful of butter, some oats, vanilla, and ground coffee in a bowl. scrub on your hands or lips and then wash off.

戮 cup Ground Oats (old fashioned rolled oats)
录 cup Walnut Shell Flour

2 teaspoons of essential oil (see clay mask for appropriate essential oil)
Clay Mask for Oily/Combination Skin

Lip Balm Butter Recipe
This recipe is similar to Burt鈥檚 Bees Lip Balm. It has plenty of beeswax and shea butter in it. It seems to lend itself to minty essential oils as well as our lavender/lime essential oil blend.
Ingredients:
1 ounces beeswax beads
1 ounces shea butter
3/4 ounce borage seed oil(
you can use a less expensive oil such as sweet almond oil. Borage seed oil is the most moisturizing oil that we carry.)
1 teaspoon colored jojoba beads (optional)
Essential Oils 鈥?see below
Utensils needed: 8 ounce glass measuring cup, teaspoon measuring spoon, stainless spoon or wooden coffee stirrer and lip balm jars or lip balm tubes.
Put the beeswax beads, shea butter and jojoba beads in glass cup and melt in microwave. Be sure to microwave at 50% and 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time. When melted add oil. Microwave a little more if oil congeals mixture. It is important when working with a shea butter product not to get it above 160 degrees or it gets gritty Stir and add borage seed oil. When the mixture has cooled a little, add essential oil(s) and pour into containers. When cool, label your products.
Minty suggestions:
陆 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
or
陆 teaspoon spearmint essential oil
or
陆 teaspoon peppermint and 录 teaspoon wintergreen essential oils
Lavender/Lime 鈥?add 1 to 2 teaspoons essential oil blend 鈥?equal parts
For a softer lip balm, add another 陆 ounce of borage seed oil and/or omit jojoba beads.
Our natural lip balm tubes with the teal caps look really nice with lagoon green jojoba beads for a minty lip balm. You can see the lip balm color thru the tube.
if you want to make soap, go to michales, they have everthing you need; moldings etc.

oatmeal mask
need: 1tbsp runny honney, 1 egg yolk, up to 4 tbsp fine oatmeal
directions: mix the honey and egg yolk together in a bowl,then slowly stir in enough oatmeal, making a soft paste. smooth onto face, and relax for 15 minutes. rise with lukewarm water and pat skin dry.
gentle face srcub
need: 3tbsp ground almonds, 3 tbsp medium oatmeal, 3tbsp powdered milk, 2 tbsp powdered rose petals, almomnd oil, mixing bowl, spoon, lidded glass jar
directions:combine all ingreditents in bowl (except almond oil). store in a lidded glass jar. take a handful each time you use it , put it in a mixing bowl and pour a little bit almond oil. when ready to take it off, rinse splashes of warm water. this will make 10 treatments.
night cream:
need: 2 oz jar of unperfumed base cream w/ a lid, 3 drops of rose essential oil, 2 drops of frankicense essetial oil, 1 drop of jasmine essential oil
directions: add the oils to the cream %26amp; mix well together. apply to skin before bedtime
geranium body lotion
need: 6 fluid ounces of unsented body lotion, 15 drops geranium essential oil
directions:
mix oil and lotion throughly, then pour into a bottle with a lid
citrus body scrub
need: 3tbsp freshly ground sunflower seeds, 3tbsp medium oatmeal, 3 tbsp flaked sea salt, 3tbsp finely grated orange peel, 3 drops grapefruit essential oil, almond oil
directions: mix all ingreedients except almond oil then store in a lidded jar. each time you use it apply a little almond oil to make a thick paste, wet skin, then rub onto skin.
You can make a really nice lipgloss by taking a nice lipstick.. Cutting a chunk of it off
and mixing it with vaseline :)

What's up with these bands wearing masks...?
I'm okay with Slipknot doing it because they pretty much started it unless you want to count GWAR or some band like that, but it pisses me off that there have been two bands that I know of that have done the mask thing. One wore Hockey Masks and the other Animal Masks. Please don't tell me who these two latter bands are because I don't care. Can't they do anything original? Experiment - experiment - experiment - see what works best for you. Not all skins are alike. Just know that with homemade mixture, you are being kind to your skin because you are not putting in any of those harsh chemicals and artificial stuff.
And get plenty of rest. A rested body radiates healthy skin!

i have a great product from aok, sea sand and crushed almonds, its really natural, you have to mix it with water. depending on the proportions it can be used a a peeling, a mask or to clean the face. i think its great, maybe you can get wherever you are?
Use avacados! Theyre very high in nutrients and help nurish your skin if its dry. For this mask, mix half an avacado with some honey and maybe a little flour to get a nice and stiff. Let it cool in the fridge while you wait for you friends and when you apply it on your face, itll be a good consistancy and it will feel cool and refeshing on your skin.
Another good mask is the oatmeal milk mask. Mixed some oatmeal, milk and a bit of flour in a bowl and stick it in the fridge again. This mask helps give your skin a dewy complection and soothe really dry skin. Hope these helped!

yogurt is really good, i tried it today with boiled potatoes and its nice, just ,ash the potatoes and mix the yogurt in so its like a puree....even yogurt alone is good.
i dont recommend honey despite the fact people always say to put it on ur face..causes small bumps
the best thing though is getting chamomile and boiling it in a pot, then placing ur face on top, with the correct distance so u dont burn urself and put a towel over ur head coming all the way done over the pot so the steam doesnt escape for 15 mins and then wipe away with cotton..it is good to wash ur face with warm water after because ur pores will be open from the steam.

Let it cool in the fridge while you wait for you friends and when you apply it on your face, itll be a good consistancy and it will feel cool and refeshing on your skin.
Another good mask is the oatmeal milk mask. Mixed some oatmeal, milk and a bit of flour in a bowl and stick it in the fridge again. This mask helps give your skin a dewy complection and soothe really dry skin. Hope these helped!

the best thing though is getting chamomile and boiling it in a pot, then placing ur face on top, with the correct distance so u dont burn urself and put a towel over ur head coming all the way done over the pot so the steam doesnt escape for 15 mins and then wipe away with cotton..it is good to wash ur face with warm water after because ur pores will be open from the steam.

Aspirin masks are good overall to cleanse and remove oil/redness. I usually add a little bit of honey into the mix to make it a bit thicker and to moisturize.
To make this, just get some uncoated drug store aspirin - that's the kind that is just white and chalky. If you get aspirin with a coating on it, it won't work. Put a few aspirins in a bowl and add 1 or 2 drops of water for each aspirin you put in. Then smush them around together until the aspirin has dissolved. Make sure it's not too watery, or it won't coat your face very well. Then you can add the honey at your own discretion, and apply it to your face. Leaving it on for 10-15 minutes should do the trick.

What are the long term effects from working on a Cobalt mine in the DRC without protective clothing/masks etc.
My Husband has been working in the DRC on a Cobalt / copper mine and I was just wondering if there are any ill health affects from this sort of mining. well not sure exactly abt the systemic effects due 2 working in cobalt or copper mine......but there is a thing called pneumoconiosis(which is a lung problem also called intertesial lung disease)which could our after a long exposure as u just told......so u better as 4 X-ray chest as well even if he is not having any cough problem........

Vinegar. You heard me. Not just any old vinegar though. It has to be plain Japanese Rice Vinegar. You can find this is any old supermarket in the ';condiments'; section.
Vinegar has long been known for it's acidity level. Ranging anywhere from 4-5% acidity. When this is applied to the skin, it actually raises the acidity level in the skin, actually making it impossible for bacteria to form on the skin.
Result? No acne. Vinegar is exceptionally great on body acne, such as the shoulders, chest, and back. The first time I used it the redness was gone and it was much less noticable. Overtime the vinegar clears skin entirely, gets rid of dark spots, red spots and actually prevents any acne from popping up entirely.
How you use it is as follows. Take a bottle mix with half vinegar, half water. You want to dilute it a little bit because it can be a bit harsh if you have sensitive skin. You can even mix a bit of tea tree oil into this mix. Shake it all up so it's all combined. Then use it as you would any other toner. Apply it to a cotton pad and swipe the areas you want to clear up. You don't wash it off. You are going to smell a bit of vinegar but rice vinegar isn't that strong and the smell is gone as soon as it's dried on the skin.
I use this after a shower, after I have exfoliated with a scrubber or sea salt. It's normal to feel a little bit of a sting when it's applied, this is normal.
I assure you I am not crazy in this method, haha. This to date, has been the cheapest and most effective way to combat any body blemishes and you can even use it on the face, however I would further dilute it with 3/4 water and 1/4 vinegar because the face is a bit more sensitive than the body.

mayo and egg is a good one and also try rinsing your hair after shampooing with a can of beer
RIPE AVOCADOES!!! Mash it well and add a little olive oil. Mix well into a paste and put it on your hair. Wrap hair in cling wrap then put a hot towl around it. Let sit for 20 mins. Rinse well and shampoo/condition.
Banana also works too.
A homemade remedy could consist of putting beer on your hair or you could use mayonnaise (because of all the fat content). When you use mayonnaise, please be sure to use a shower cap. This will allow the natural heat from your head to make the mayo soak into the outer cuticle of your hair shaft. To get shiny hair you can use white vinegar (it will also get rid of dandruff too!).

You will -- in the course of time-- get hurt -- for sure, but think about the joy it will bring you. Loving is a decision and once you decide to lvoe someone, let your guards down and let him/her probe deeply in your heart. Trusting that he or she will nurture your friendship.

1 medium size apple; grated
5 tablespoons of honey; warmed
Instructions:
Stir ingredients together. Apply to freshly cleaned face and leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat dry
For dry skin: Avacado mask
Ingredients:
1/2 Avocado
Instructions:
Mash avocado and apply evenly to your face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water or soft wash cloth.
For normal/combination skin: Banana and Avacado mask
Ingredients:
1/2 banana
1/2 avacado

Follow the directions for Chocolate Lip Gloss, but replace the cocoa with strawberry, raspberry or blueberry drink crystals or berry flavored kool-aid (with sugar already added).
Honey Lip Gloss
Combine three tablespoons of vaseline or petroleum jelly with one teaspoon of honey. Warm in the microwave, using 30 second increments, until melted. Or melt over low heat in a double boiler.
Pour melted honey lip balm into small pots and let cool before using.
Easy Minty Lip Gloss:
Add three drops of peppermint oil to one tablespoon of vaseline and mix well. Make as much or as little as you need.
BODY SCRUBS TO EXFOLIATE SKIN:
Brown sugar body scrub
Ingredients
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground oats
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don't have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).
Preparation
Before you start preparing this scrub, grind the oatmeal using a coffee grinder or food processor. It has to be of sandy consistency, flaky and light otherwise it will scratch the skin.
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until it resembles a paste
It should be applied on moist skin, the best time is after you took a shower. It will help the skin cells slough off faster.
Use circular motion and massage gently using your fingertips.
Rinse off with warm water.

Pour melted honey lip balm into small pots and let cool before using.
Easy Minty Lip Gloss:
Add three drops of peppermint oil to one tablespoon of vaseline and mix well. Make as much or as little as you need.
BODY SCRUBS TO EXFOLIATE SKIN:
Brown sugar body scrub
Ingredients
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground oats
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don't have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).
Preparation
Before you start preparing this scrub, grind the oatmeal using a coffee grinder or food processor. It has to be of sandy consistency, flaky and light otherwise it will scratch the skin.
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until it resembles a paste
It should be applied on moist skin, the best time is after you took a shower. It will help the skin cells slough off faster.
Use circular motion and massage gently using your fingertips.
Rinse off with warm water.
What do these ingredients do?
Oatmeal is hypoallergenic. In case you have sensitive skin, using the oatmeal is highly recommended because it is soothing and there is no risk that it will irritate the skin. Oatmeal is benefitial to oily skin as it is extremely absorptive and picks up on excess oil. It helps dry and itchy skin and is widely used in cosmetics.
Aloe vera gel is gentle on skin, it speeds its healing and reduces the possible irritation and pain.
The next brown sugar scrub contains lemon which is a great natural disinfectant. It opens up the clogged pores and cleanses them thoroughly so your skin can ';breathe'; better.
Almond oil sugary scrub
Ingredients
2/3 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Sweet Almond Oil
10 Drops Vitamin E
10 Drops Essential oil/Fragrance Oil
Preparation
Mix oil, vitamin E and essential oil or fragrance oil in a bowl. Add sugar and mix well. Divide into containers.
CHEAP HOMEMADE SOAP:
Materials:
Bars of natural fragrance or color free soap
Essential oils of your choice
(Lavender, rose and jasmine work well)
Food coloring
Oats
Vitamin E Oil (Optional)
Almond Oil
Instructions:
1) Grate soap in a blender or food processor.
2) Boil a pot of water and put a glass bowl over the pot, (like a double boiler.)
3) Add some almond oil into the bowl.
4) Add the soap into the bowl.
