Besides masks how can i incorporate theatre into my wedding and still make it elegant?

Im kinda in the same boat.... Except Im doing movies....

Theme each table to a famous play or playwright, then have everyone at that table be on your ';Cast list'; when they arrive. Then find things to incorporate into that table like Eqqus, you could have a horseshoe and some ';reins'; on the table....

Romeo and Juliette.... dagger, love letters and ';poison';

Need some more ideas, let me know!!Besides masks how can i incorporate theatre into my wedding and still make it elegant?
Instead of a soloist at the beginning of your ceremony, have a ';narrator'; read a speach or poem or story ';setting the scene';...like your dating story building up to this day...and end the reading with....the wedding of ____ %26amp; _____-TAKE ONE. Set the reception up like a stage set.....director's chairs for the head table....for entertainment have family and friends or theatre students do skits about love and marriage! I think this is a very unique idea!Besides masks how can i incorporate theatre into my wedding and still make it elegant?
Well, the crashing chandelier would be overkill. As would a having ';director';.

But at the very least, I imagine you could pick a terrific bunch of show tunes for a wedding. You could probably (carefully!) use the Playbill format to some extent for schedule and seating info, if not for invitations. You could assign each table a play or theatre or respected actor (etc.) title and or theme.

People do need to be able to ';get it';, but otherwise, restraint is probably key.

Sounds fun!
Maybe you could have your wedding programs printed up to look like a playbill?
have your reception on a stage at a theatre. or try having a the back drop that would be behind the table that you and your groom are sitting at be like opening curtains on a stage and have some masks attatched to it.
Have a small stage built and go from there!
there can be plenty of drama on it's own in a wedding; no need to go out of your way to try to incorporate it.....
Have guest stand up and play roles. LIke one guy stands up and says ';I object I've always loved you'; to your bride to be, but she has eyes only for you. Keep only a few people in on it, that way the rest of the party isn't aware of whats going on. Throw in some dramatic music. Have the lights to go out and someone disappears. I don't know lol. I suppose theres alot of fun things you can do as long as both of you love the idea.
Have your wedding gown be an elegant dress from a favorite play/ movie. Ex: My wedding gown could be Susan's corronation gown from the Chronicles of Narnia since I love the dress, and the movie.
you could have an actor dress as a character of your choice and do a reading. have a small stage built for the head table for the reception. have the theatre masks as party favors. have the cake designed after a stage setting of your favorite play.
Instead of a church or chapel set-up, have your wedding at a theatre (even one made up yourself, you would need a stage, probably a red velvet curtain, maybe lighting or spotlights)
maybe just have the theme of the wedding ..old Renaissance theater theme. Like have the room created with that motif . Watch Romeo %26amp; Juliette to get ideas. That would look really ice. Maybe bring out he masks at the after-party that way everyone has had some wine and they will want to put on the masks and party.
Big Band / Ballroom Dancing .
Have the place cards (or even the invitations) printed to look like old fashioned theatre tickets

Rent a old fashioned popcorn machine (you can find them online)

Change dresses one for ceremony, one for dinner one for dancing, sort of like costume changes

Use lots of touches of red velvet like you would see in the old theatre drapes

Make the centerpieces oil lamps with crystal shades surrounded by flowers like they have at dinner theatres

Wear long white gloves with your dress, very old theatre glamour

Have the groom in a top hate and coat tails

Oh and one more thing...get the tracks of light and run them around the edges of the room to mimic the aisle runner lights they use in theatres
